K's Oriental Food

Today, I had the lunch special from K's Oriental on Lincoln Ave. I ordered General's Tofu (instead of chicken) with a cup of fried rice, a cup of egg drop soup, and two rangoons. They don't even try to pass of the rangoons as containing real crab- they're simply called cream cheese rangoons. They are not heavily fried and are somewhat light. They are good, especially with some Trader Joe's chili sauce, but on their own they lack full flavor. The fried rice had good flavor but could use some more vegetables. It is also lightly fried and not overpowering. I add sriracha and aminos for flavor. The egg drop soup is delicious when warm. I would order this again as it was the best part of my meal. The general's tofu has a really nice sauce- quite liquidy and not too spicy. The tofu comes in triangular pieces and is easy to chew and tender. It holds the flavor of the sauce nicely. It could stand to be a little less firm but overall I enjoyed it. The total cost of the lunch special was an easy-to-part-with $7. That is not bad at all. My fiancee got shrimp lo mein. It was savory, and the noodles were cooked right, but I've never been a fan of lo mein and this did not change my mind. I would give my meal a 7/10.
